Compliance

Block Companies is a HUD qualified general contractor with extensive experience with Davis Bacon compliance and certified payroll which is reported via Elations, LCP Tracker, etc. to HUD or a third party for verification. We routinely recruit within the local community to encourage participation in all construction projects by holding job fairs and reaching out in the community through local organizations, the housing authority, churches, elected officials, non-profits, advertisements, and database searches to solicit involvement from MWBE, Small Businesses, Local Businesses, Veterans/ Disabled Veterans, and Section 3 businesses and residents.

Our company takes pride in constructing new market rate, value add, senior living, affordable and workforce housing. Our projects have included typical market rate, LIHTC (4% and 9%) tax credits, CDBG, Disaster Recovery, HOME funds, Historical Tax Credits, Opportunity Zone funding, and Public- Private partnerships.

Value Engineering

Block has performed value engineering and related pre-bid services for multi-family developers, private retail, public entities, and many other clients. This early participation in the project process is a company strength, allowing us to deliver quality projects at better costs while maintaining the owner and design team's desired look, feel and schedule. Our value engineering work typically includes owner/design team consultation, relationship-building and scoping with each subcontractor trade, developing cost options and alternatives, with a final proposal presentation.

Cost Estimating

We work closely with architects and owners to accurately estimate project budgets, drawing upon our experience and capabilities, historic costs and forecasted scheduling. We view cost estimating as an important measure of our team's integrity, acumen and competence, and one or more Block owners will always participate in this process, no matter the project size or scope.

Cooperative

As an alternative to coming to Block with approved architectural drawings and specs, we're fully staffed and experienced at working with your design team from concept through all phases of construction. This level of close collaboration often helps clients achieve greater cost and time efficiencies while realizing their design team's distinct vision.
