Recognition: 2025 Excellence in Construction Award

2100 Memorial Senior Living is a 198-unit affordable, urban infill senior housing community rebuilt on the site of a former Holiday Inn hotel originally constructed in the late 1960s. The building was later converted into senior housing by the Houston Housing Authority, but sustained catastrophic flood damage during Hurricane Harvey. As part of a multi-year recovery effort, Block Companies demolished the storm-damaged high-rise and redeveloped the site from the ground up.

The new podium-style community brings safe, resilient, and modern homes back to a historic corridor along Buffalo Bayou. Purpose-built for older adults, the development features accessible floor plans, contemporary finishes, service-enriched amenities, and thoughtfully designed common areas that promote independence, wellness, and social engagement. The project restores deeply needed senior housing and stands as a symbol of Houston’s long-term recovery and revitalization.

Financing:

4% LIHTC, CDBG-DR17 disaster recovery funding, Davis Bacon Prevailing Wages, and support from the Houston Housing Authority and the City of Houston.
