Block Construction was commissioned to build the Port’s new 14,800 SF (1,370 SM) Emergency Command Center. This was a one-story office building, they decided to build an emergency command center on a second floor, above the existing one-story office space. A new three-story addition was built with a “situation” room designed to provide views to the river. The Command Center features emergency power, sleeping and shower accommodations for emergency responders, and a state-of-the-art communications center.
